March 8-10 Latvian Youth Association: "ŠMIJ: Šī Māksla ir Jauna / This Art is Young"

This Art is Young is an annual art show put on by the Latvian National Youth Association in Canada which showcases young Latvian artists. It gives them a chance to display their art in a setting they previously might not have had an opportunity to. The show has no central theme which might seem a little chaotic but leaves room for the artists to explore all types of medium and develop their own art style. While there is no established subject matter many of the artists draw inspiration from their Latvian culture be it from textile design or folk dancing.

The show will be up all weekend but come find out how fun Latvians really are on opening night, the 8th of March at 7 p.m. The next day we will be holding three different seminars. The first one will be about marijuana and the differences between it's growth and consumption in Canada and Latvia. The second one will be an informative look into the Latvian Song and Dance Festival while the third will be talking about Latvian jewelry. Hope to see you all there!
