In UNLOVELY, Courtney Archer’s illustrations are populated by a variety of monstrous female figures. Juxtaposition and ambiguous narrative are at the heart of her work. She contrasts the grotesque with identifiable human traits, exploring revulsion and empathy. Her subjects adhere to archetypal femininity, putting their potential threat into question. This is Courtney Archer’s first solo exhibition with #Hashtag Gallery.
