Forgotten Places is a collection of work that draws attention to Tjandra’s love of vernacular architecture, accidental dwellings, the beauty of density, and her childhood memories of living in Java – the most populated Island in Indonesia.

Presented in large scale as detailed line drawings on paper, Tjandra’s work references the Batik and Wayang aesthetics of her native Indonesia. By transporting the audience to an unknown place filled with curiosity and uncertainty, Forgotten Places is a visual narrative that pushes architectural boundaries to create conversations on possibilities, reality and fantasy.
